Business leaders within Tlaxcala’s automotive industry have highlighted the need for improvements to the state’s security infrastructure. In recent meetings, executives from the Automotive Cluster Central Zone (CLAUZ) urged state authorities to address escalating security concerns, emphasizing the growing sophistication of criminal activities.

Representatives from CLAUZ, including Víctor Cota Elorriaga, President; Marcos del Rosario Haget, Vice President; and Sergio Ramos Vázquez, Tlaxcala Committee President, discussed these concerns with key state officials.

The meeting was attended by Alberto Martín Perea Marrufo, Minister of the Ministry of Citizen Security (SSC); Ernestina Carro Roldán, Head of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGJE); Luis Antonio Ramírez Hernández, Ministry of Government (SEGOB); Maximino Hernández Pulido from the Executive Ministry of the State Public Security System (SESNSP); Javier Marroquín Calderón, Ministry of Economic Development (SEDECO); and Martín Jaramillo Barrios from the 23rd Military Zone.

"Crime has become increasingly professionalized, and our security measures need to keep pace," said Sergio Ramos Vázquez. He also advocated for the establishment of the Trust Fund for Competitiveness and Security of Tlaxcala (FICOSET), a proposed fund designed to strengthen the state’s security infrastructure. This trust fund, which would require businesses to contribute 0.1% of their payroll tax, is viewed by many as a crucial investment in the state's future. "Although it is a sensitive issue for businesses to allocate additional funds, this investment will attract further investment to the state by enhancing security," Ramos noted.

Ficoset aims to create a mechanism through which the business community can contribute to and oversee security investments, ensuring that funds are directed towards initiatives that improve both the perception and reality of safety in Tlaxcala. “The creation of FICOSET will allow us to expand the state’s security infrastructure. It is rare to be given such a role in addressing sensitive issues, and this opportunity should be valued,” Ramos added.

In support of these efforts, CLAUZ representatives have called for the establishment of direct communication channels with law enforcement through platforms such as WhatsApp, enabling immediate reporting and timely interventions.

The dialogue also extended to the need for better-equipped and more highly trained police forces, more effective strategies to combat highway robberies, and improved public ministry services. Víctor Cota, President, CLAUZ, emphasized the ongoing influx of investment opportunities and the importance of creating optimal conditions for business growth in the region. “Today, we established open, transparent, and trustworthy communication with all state authorities to work towards the future we all envision,” Cota stated.
